Position: Cast Room Technician

Role within team:

In process of fabricating a custom molded brace, a cast room tech conceives the basic idea and functionality of that brace. Based on anatomical data and functional goal of the patient, Cast Room tech initiates production line.

For this functional brace to work properly with the patient, tech considers three major problems: 1) How can we capture accurate representation of patient's anatomy with given negative cast? 2) How can we locate anatomical joint axis that delivers proper articulation of aimed extremity? 3) How can we maintain level of high quality workmanship within timeframe of entire production?

The cast room tech's main contribution to the production team is to create a quality foundation so the rest of team can build a superior brace upon it, delivering our technology to the patients in timely manner.

Job Duties:

To locate anatomical joint axis on negative cast and adjust based on our understanding of Anatomical Articulation of lower/upper extremities.
To prepare negative molds (cast) for plaster casting.
To mix and pour plaster into prepared molds.
To strip negative mold off of cured positive mold.
To modify positive mold in accordance with given Brace Design/Selection.
To thermoform modified molds with plastic.

Position Attributes Needed:
education: High school and up emphasis highly on analytical geometry, fine art, craft…
training: Any Anatomical classes would be preferable.
experience: Any Industrial production which involves lively communications and teamwork.
behavioral: Highly goal oriented independent thinking team player. Ability to take positive criticism and accept new ideas with same degree of critical thinking Ability to maintain and promote positive team moral successful time and stress manager.
